Therapy for Burnout and Chronic Stress

You might be used to being the strong one, the anchor, the organiser, and the problem-solver at work and at home. But when high achievement is fuelled by endless responsibility and an inability to stop, your nervous system eventually pays the price. Burnout isn't just feeling tired after a busy week; it is a profound physical, mental, and emotional depletion. Whether you are feeling completely drained, detached, or unable to keep up anymore, we want to offer you a safe place to understand what is happening to your mind and body, and find the way back to yourself.

What it might feel like

When you are experiencing burnout and chronic stress, it rarely stays confined to your working life. It spills into every corner of your world as a wave of physical exhaustion, emotional numbness, and quiet overwhelm that makes you feel disconnected from who you used to be.

You might recognize yourself in some of these experiences:

Deep, Unyielding Exhaustion

A profound fatigue that sleep simply does not fix. You wake up feeling just as drained as when your head hit the pillow, relying on sheer willpower, caffeine, or adrenaline to push through your day while running on an empty tank.

Over-functioning and Boundary Breakdown

You carry a deep-seated belief that if you don't do it, no one will, or that saying "no" will disappoint people or cause things to fall apart. You find yourself constantly over-delivering, taking on extra emotional labor, and putting everyone else’s needs above your own, leaving zero energy for yourself.

Emotional Detachment, Cynicism, and Resentment

Instead of feeling engaged and passionate, you notice a growing sense of numbness, irritability, or cynicism toward work, family obligations, or activities you used to love. You might feel a quiet, lingering resentment about how much is expected of you, followed by heavy guilt for feeling that way.

Physical Warning Signs and Loss of Joy

Your body starts keeping the score through persistent headaches, stomach issues, jaw clenching, muscle tension, or frequent illnesses. Life feels like a relentless checklist of tasks to survive rather than something to enjoy, leaving you feeling disconnected and unhappy.

Please remember: Experiencing any of this does not mean you are weak, incompetent, or failing. It simply means you have been strong for far too long in an environment or system that asked too much of you, and your mind and body are calling for care and rest.

How we can help

So many high-achieving women suffer in silence with burnout because they feel ashamed that they can no longer keep it all together. But, reaching your limit is not a character flaw or a lack of resilience - it is a protective signal from your mind and body. In our sessions, you don't have to manage anyone else or perform for anyone. We will create a safe, confidential space where you can pause and be held. We go entirely at your pace, using gentle, highly effective, evidence-based therapies tailored to bring you back to yourself:

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT): We help you unpack the deep-seated beliefs that say your worth is tied solely to your productivity, achievements, or caretaking. CFT helps you quiet the harsh inner critic and cultivate a soothing, compassionate inner authority.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): We work together to clarify what actually matters to you, not what others expect of you, and help you set firm, protective boundaries around your energy and rebuild a life aligned with your true values.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Somatic Regulation: We give you practical tools to step off the chronic stress cycle, re-regulate your nervous system, and unhook from the catastrophic overthinking that tells you everything will collapse if you take a step back.

We bring senior clinical expertise and compassionate care to every session. You can read more about our backgrounds, qualifications, and approaches on our About Us page.
