Talking Women was set up by Dr Sarah Emmerson and Dr Clare McFie to offer a service specifically for women dealing with the issues that have touched us and the women in our lives. Talking women is a passion project for us, because we realised through our almost 20 years of joint clinical experience in the NHS how little support there is available to women struggling with issues like fertility, perinatal and postnatal anxiety, postnatal depression or trauma, menopause, ageing, ADHD, and women's health issues and we wanted to provide women with a safe and supportive place to turn to.

We want to be there for you and support you with periods of transition, issues of identity, sexuality and gender, work, and relationships. In our practice we want to create a supportive, non-judgmental and empowering space for women to share their experiences and find the help they need.

We have a lot of experience with different evidence-based models of therapy, including CBT, EMDR and ACT but the most important thing for us has always been the relationship we get to build with our clients. Being able to help each client with an approach that is right for them and helps them achieve goals that are meaningful to them is what drives us. Read about how we work or look at some of our information sheets and articles to find out more about us.

We offer in-person sessions for those living in Twickenham, Richmond, Teddington, Hampton and surrounding areas, as well online sessions. Our work is regularly supervised by several independent supervisors.

I have worked as a Psychologist for almost 10 years, in the NHS and in private practice.

I have long been interested in supporting women facing life challenges, including relationship breakdown, infertility, menopause, bereavement, illness and redundancy, and those experiencing mental health difficulties. I am also passionate about supporting women through pregnancy and new motherhood. At Talking Women I offer individual therapy and relationship therapy, either alone or with a partner, friend or family member, as well as specialist ADHD assessments and therapy.

I trained as a Counselling Psychologist at the University of Surrey and have completed further training in sleep difficulties, eating disorders, psychosis and bipolar disorder, and couples work. I am fully accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), registration number PYL38210 and I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society.
