Therapy for Anxiety, Health Anxiety and OCD

Anxiety and functioning well often go hand-in-hand; when you are responsible, analytical, and used to solving problems, your brain can easily learn that worrying keeps you and everyone around you safe. But when high functioning turns into relentless "what-if" thoughts, health fears, or compulsive checking, life can shrink down to managing potential threats. Whether you are navigating generalised anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, or OCD, we want to offer you a safe place to understand what is going on in your mind and how to find the way back to feeling calm and grounded within yourself.

What it might feel like

When you are living with high anxiety, health anxiety, or OCD, it rarely stays quiet. It shows up as a wave of overwhelming thoughts, physical sensations, and internal demands that can make you feel disconnected from yourself and unable to enjoy your life.

You might recognize yourself in some of these experiences:

Relentless "What-If" Thoughts and Catastrophising

Your mind feels like an overactive alarm system, running continuous worst-case scenarios about your health, your family, your career, or your safety. You find yourself trapped in overthinking, re-analysing past conversations, or trying to predict every outcome to prevent anything going wrong.

Health Anxiety and Body Hypervigilance

You are hyper-aware of every physical sensation in your body—a racing pulse, a sudden flutter, a headache, or an unusual ache. Your brain quickly interprets these normal bodily fluctuations as signs of something terribly wrong. You might find yourself compulsively Googling symptoms, checking your body, or seeking reassurance from loved ones or doctors, only for the panic to return a short while later.

Intrusive Thoughts and Compulsive Rituals (OCD)

Unwanted, distressing images or "what-if" thoughts pop into your head uninvited, causing a sudden spike of anxiety or dread. To soothe that distress, you might feel driven to perform internal or external compulsions - such as checking, repeating tasks, seeking reassurance, or mentally reviewing events - hoping to ensure that everything is safe.

Physical Exhaustion and the Need for Control

Anxiety takes a heavy toll on the body. You might live with constant muscle tension, stomach knots, shallow breathing, or sleep disruption. Because control feels like survival, you might hold yourself to impossibly high standards or over-prepare for every situation, leaving you utterly exhausted and unable to stay present with the people you love.

Please remember: Experiencing any of this does not mean you are weak or irrational. It simply means your brain’s natural threat-detection system is working in overdrive to keep you safe, and it needs gentle, structured support to learn that you are secure.

How we can help

So many women suffer in silence with anxiety because they feel embarrassed by their fears or worry that admitting them will make them real. Living with constant fear, health panic, or intrusive thoughts is not a character flaw or a lack of strength, but a human reaction to an overworked nervous system. In our sessions, we will create a safe, confidential space where you can speak your fears aloud without judgment. We go entirely at your pace, using gentle, highly effective, evidence-based therapies tailored to bring you back to yourself:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): We work together to understand what happens when you have anxiety, unpack terrifying "what-if" thoughts, and break the cycle of checking and reassurance-seeking. CBT gives you practical, structured tools to quiet the alarm systems and feel confident in your mind again.

  • Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) Principles: For intrusive thoughts and OCD compulsions, we gently guide you in leaning into uncertainty without having to rely on exhausting rituals, helping your brain realise that you are safe without the compulsion.

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT): High anxiety is often driven by a harsh inner critic. We help you shift from fear-driven self-criticism to a grounded, soothing inner dialogue that fosters emotional safety and self-reassurance.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): We teach you how to change your relationship with anxiety, learning to unhook from intrusive thoughts so they no longer dictate your choices, allowing you to live a life guided by what truly matters to you.
